The Mauritius and Francophone Office was registered at the beginning of September 2008. The office is situated at 5 Edwin Ythier Street, Rose Hill in Mauritius. Mrs Loga Virahsawmy heads the office as Director. The coverage portfolio includes Mauritius, Madagascar and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The office provides support in the areas of Media Action Plan on HIV and AIDS, Local Government training and roll out of Gender Action Plans, the commissioning of journalist to contribute French articles in the GL Opinion and Commentary Service as well offering translation services to GL. Implementation of planned activities is achieved through the collaboration of partners within Mauritius, Madagascar and the DRC and working closely with the GL in Johannesburg.
