The Lesotho office was registered in February 2011 and situated in Maseru. The mandate of the office is to implement all the stages of the Centres of Excellence which is a project aimed at working with Local Government councils to ensure gender is mainstreamed from the grassroots levels where it all begins. Initiatives have been taken to ensure that local authorities and various women's community groups engage further with issues of gender, gender based violence, elections and the media, as well as increase knowledge and awareness of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development. Mpho Mankimane is the country facilitator and is helpted by Ntolo Mary Lekau, an intern.
