Seeking 8 Afrikaans-speaking Female and Male Fieldworkers to conduct a Household Survey on women and men's relationships in Gauteng Province
Gender Links, the non-governmental organization which promotes gender equality between women and men is conducting a household survey to understand women and men's relationships in the province of Gauteng.
The Household Survey:
The services of the fieldworkers will be required for approximately 4 weeks from 1 -30 June 2010, to join a team of other fieldworkers. Successful applicants will need to be willing to work on a irregular hours and on weekends visiting communities around Gauteng Province. All applications must be received by Tuesday the 25th May 2010.
Work will involve:
- Locating and enrolling adult women and men in randomly selected households around Gauteng province (Pretoria in Wierda Park, Rooihuiskraal and Garsfontein; and Weltevreden Park, Kloofendal, Kelland and Craighall in Randburg, Johannesburg) to participate in the research.
- Supporting the women and men in completing a computer-based survey in their homes.
- Irregular hours and weekends.
Requirements:
- 4 Female and 4 Male, "Coloured", "Indian" and/or "White" with first-language being Afrikaans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Matric completed.
- Available June 2010.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Prior experience with fieldwork or survey research
- Demonstrated high levels of computer skills
- Valid driver's license
- Some tertiary study
