This case study looks at the successes and challenges of Base FM, a Namibian community radio station , to ensure gender balance in news and reporting. Formerly Katutura Community Radio station, Base FM won the 2008 Media Action Plan (MAP) award for the best gender aware policy and practice on HIV and AIDS in the region. The station is rooted in a community where HIV/AIDS is a reality, incorporating gender and HIV programming is an important part of serving the listeners.
