The SADC Gender Protocol Barometer Baseline Study in Mozambique is part of the SADC Gender Protocol Regional Barometer coordinated by Gender Links as the leading organization for the Southern Africa Gender Protocol Alliance. This study is developed with the aim of tracking progress toward achieving gender equality in Mozambique as stated in the Protocol, in which Mozambique is a signatory.
This report presents the current position of Mozambique with regards to gender and development, the level of implementation of the SADC Protocol provisions, and the structures put in place to commit to these. To achieve this, statistical data related to the protocol was collected and interviews with relevant stakeholders conducted. The information collected includes demographics, social, economic and political data. Officers at the Ministry of Women and Social Action, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Public Service, representatives of the main political parties, and representatives of NGOs working on gender issues where interviewed to give their perspectives on the implementation of the protocol provisions.Files to download:
