Police in Tutume are investigating a case in which a 61 year old man of Nkange village is alleged to have raped his 15 year old niece. Speaking to The Voice newspaper this week Acting Station Commander, Assistant Superintendant Motlogelwa Dibonwa said that he was worried about the rise of rape in his district.
The teenager reported that she went to her uncle's place around 11am to charge her phone and her uncle went to his bedroom and asked her to bring him a cup of tea. When the poor girl brought him the tea, he dragged her onto his bed and raped her. "We have arrested the suspect and he is helping us with investigations," Dibonwa said.
In another rape case, a 21 year old man allegedly raped a foreign woman after pretending to be a police officer. The woman was walking alone to church when the suspected rapist asked her to show him her identity card. While she was still fumbling for the documents in her bag, the man dragged her into the bush and raped her.
