As part of its Gender, Media and elections project, Gender Links conducted a number of elections in Namibia in the run up to the 2009 national elections. Among these was a workshop on accesing the media for Women politicians. The workshop brought together 26 women politicians representing all 14 political parties. The main objective of this traiing workshop was empower women politicians with skills to engage with the media especially during the run up to the elctions. Among other areas covered, they learnt to do their own publicity materials such as profiles, writing press releases as well as opinion and comentary peices.

A second workshop was held for civil society on the gendered dimension of electoral processs. This workshop helped participants to do analyses of party maifestos, party lists as well as doing election forecasts based on those.

Gender Links will continue  working with civil society through out the election period.
