With 2015 fast approaching, the media in Southern Africa have to come up with deliberate strategies to improve gender equality in the media. The protocol calls on the media to give equal voice to women and men in all areas of coverage, including increasing the number of programmes for, by and about women on gender
specific topics that challenge gender stereotypes. The media also has to play a constructive role in the eradication of gender based violence by adopting guidelines which ensure gender-sensitive coverage. It is against this backdrop that Gender Links conducted this follow up study to ensure that appropriate       ogrammes are put in place to ensure that gender parity in the media is achieved by 2015.
