There has been a marginal increase of 5 percentage points in the proportion of women sources in the news in Tanzania from 16% in the 2003 Gender and Media Baseline Study (GMBS) to 21% in Gender and Media Progress Study (GMPS). This is 2% higher than the regional average of 19%, but lower than the global average in the 2010 Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) of 24%. There are however variations between individual media houses from Uhuru Publications at 33% to TCB at 11%.
