Has civil society and the media failed women leaders or have women leaders failed us? Future strategies for providing support to women leaders

The Gender and Media Diversity Centre based at Gender Links, in partnership with HIVOS and Akina Mama wa Afrika, cordially invite you to join us for an exciting debate on future strategies for providing support to women leaders. This event will take place on December 9th, 2009 at 17:30 at the Gender Links headquarters in Johannesburg.

This debate is part of a broader think tank meeting on women in political leadership taking place in Johannesburg from December 7th - 10th to take a hard look at lessons learned in supporting women leaders in Eastern and Southern Africa. It brings together this team with 20 journalists from around the SADC region who are participating in a Business Unusual: Gender, Economy and Soccer 2010 workshop at Gender Links. A high powered panel will debate the topic: Has civil society and the media failed women leaders or have women leaders failed us? Participants will have a chance to share their views and critique the GMDC's Gender and Leadership Checklist that has been developed through a series of seminars on Gender and Leadership.

When: Wednesday 9 December 2009
Where: Gender Links
9 Derrick Ave
Cyrildene, 2198
Johannesburg
Time: 18.00 hrs
A light supper will be served after the debate

To RSVP, send an e-mail to Saeanna Chingamuka at gmdc@genderlinks.org.za or call on 011 6222877 by Monday 7 December. We look forward to your participation.
