Alliance Annual meeting, August 2011

The Southern Africa Gender Protocol Alliance (Alliance) with support from Norwegian Church Aid, FES Botswana, Diakonia and UK Aid held several interlinked activities in August 2011 ahead of the SADC Heads of State Summit held on 17th August in Luanda, Angola.

The key activities included:

  • The Alliance annual meeting held in Johannesburg from 10 - 11 August which brought together the steering committee and strategic partners such as representatives from the Faith Based Organisations and the men's sector.
  • Two launches of the 2011 SADC Gender Protocol Barometer in Johannesburg, South Africa and Luanda, Angola on 11 August and 13 August respectively.
  • An Alliance governance cluster meeting held on 4 August in Harare, Zimbabwe attended by the national focal points from nine SADC countries.
  • A re-launch of the 5050 campaign held on 5 August in Harare, Zimbabwe attended by over 300 women and men and the governance cluster.
  • The Alliance represented by the theme cluster leaders, which is the regional civil society representative of the gender sector for in SADC, also participated in the 7th Civil Society Forum from 8 - 9 August convened by the SADC Council of NGOs (SADC CNGO).
